This was another cruisy day, I gave myself plenty of breaks anyway at 11km for breakfast, 30km for morning tea and 46km for lunch. I crossed the border into Austria within the first half hour and immediately the buildings looked different and the language switched to German again.
I stopped at the first available café and had an extremely unhealthy breakfast, but everyone else was eating the same, so I was just fitting in. Towards the end I was feeling too full and probably wouldn’t be able to look at pastries the same way for at least a few days.
I cycled very carefully after that and managed to make good time getting to my next rest stop and break my speed record on the way. Pulkau was nice, but I skipped the bakery and had some juice instead.
Lunch was interesting, I didn’t really understand the vinegar soaked meat and raw onions, but I had a go anyway. I probably had terrible breath afterwards, but nobody was around to be offended by it.
I arrived at my hotel really early, the first time that has happened so far. People on TripAdvisor and the guy at reception said that there’s nothing in the town, but that didn’t really bother me. I had some admin to do before I ventured into town to explore and find dinner. Their church (the tower on the left) was surprisingly bland, but it looks nice from afar. Plus this lion seemed cool, even if his eyes are the opposite of crosseyed, the sign on it was too blurry to read, so I don’t know what it was for.
I had a schnitzel for dinner and ended up going to sleep after listening to some music. I felt like an old person for enjoying the uneventful day, but it was pretty nice.
Oh my gawwwd – fooD!!!!!
